History

In the 19th century, Rabac was a small and picturesque village oriented on the fishing as the major economic activity. Home people where the majestic fishermen, sailors, windjammer owners and excellent cooks because the vicinity of the sea and old fishery tradition.  

The immigrants started to visit and even stay in Rabac and build their villas. The village slowly but securely started to grow into the settlement. The first impressive Villa bulit in Rabac was from the Rijeka's family. Another undertaking was when one of those new comers built a first hotel named Quarnero in the year 1889.

After many years while the village was raising and developing, one notability was discovered: a Church of St. Andrew from the 15th century and was the Oldest Architectural Heritage of this seaside resort.

Today, the tradition still remained in every corner of this picturesque settlement. It has developed into a real tourist place surrounded by amazing beaches, pine trees shade, hidden bays and coves.

Mediterranean sky gave to Rabac different charm and with reason announced this small place the Pearl of the Kvarner Bay.

Things to do

Although this settlement does not have theaters, cinemas or galleries, it has amazing summer program which includes various festivals.

Such a small but also important place has developed an important role considering the cultural life among the home people and tourists, connecting the culture and amusement.

Festivals organized during the summer are: the Regattas Cruise event; European Sailing Championship; Sailboats Regatta; Summer Carnival; the Wind Orchestra of Istria and Fishery Night - Rabac Waterfront.

Things to do

Nightlife

The promenade along the sea coast, known as the Lungo Mare stretches through out the Rabac. It is the amusing center where are settled all the restaurants, taverns, pizzerias, coffee bars, ice cream bars and alike objects. From the beginning till the end of the promenade are placed the benches with the original Croatian souvenirs and various things.

The sea side placed Hotels which organize the live music concerts with home bands, live dance shows and singing contests on their terraces.

Furthermore, something very special is organized, every summer on the Girandela Beach. It is the Rabac Summer Festival which gathers famous international DJs making extraordinary parties.

Daytime

Rabac provides excellent sport and recreational activities and features. Many things are to do like: walking, hiking, tennis, beach volley ball, diving, horseback riding, cycling, fishing, mountain climbing, hunting, table tennis, mini golf, surfing and many other extreme sports. 

Considering excursions and tours, Rabac offers many of them. You can go by boat to the Island Cres, Krk, or make a panoramic trip with the boat around the Rabac and its archipelago. You may visit the city Pula or National Park Brijuni.

How to reach us

You can reach Rabac: by bus which connects all the settlements and places along Croatia: by train to the nearest station; by boat to the nearest port or by personal boat to the small Rabac port; by plane to the nearest airport; by personal vehicle which is the most secure and independent way of traveling.
