Situated in the northwestern part of Croatia, it streches along Donje zagorje, surrounded by mounts Medvednica, Ivancica, Strahinjcica and the Macelj hills.
The Krapina-Zagorje county is an idyllic area with numerous villages and small towns that strech across the hillsides. The climate is very favorable along with beautiful landscapes.
This is also a famous place for findings trails of Palaeolithic men and animals at Husnjak's hill near Krapina and a place of rich culture and historic heritage with 40 castles, monuments and remains from the middle ages that had been preserved like the Veliki Tabor and the castles of Trakoscan and Miljana. Some of the most interesting sacral buildings on the world heritage monument list are located here (The Majka Bozja Snjezna church in Belec and the Majka Bozja Jeruzalemska church at Trski Vrh).
This is the most famous part of Croatia that leads in ecological tourism and health food production with perfectly developed agriculture (vineyards and summer houses). Also it has a rich health tourism offer (thermal spa in Stubica, Tuhelj and Sutin).
